The Masonic Foundation of The District of Columbia Scholarship

Every year the Freemasons of the nation’s capital, The Grand Lodge of Free And Accepted Masons of the District of Columbia give out scholarships to graduating seniors from one of the 16 public High Schools in the D.C. Public School system. The scholarships are only available through the counselor’s office and cannot be applied for directly with the Grand Lodge. If you or someone you know is interested in applying please visit your local D.C. Public School Guidance Counselor. Listed below is more information on the scholarship. In 2008, 17 scholarships were awarded.

Amount: $2,500

Eligibility: 

  1. Graduating DCPS Seniors only
  2. Residents of the District of Columbia
  3. Minimum GPA of 2.75
  4. Evidence of community service
  5. Involvement in school/community activities
  6. Evidence of financial need

Application Procedure: 

  1. Autobiographical statement outlining career objectives
  2. Official transcript
  3. SAT/ACT scores
  4. 12th grade report card
  5. Two letters of recommendation
  6. Verification of financial need (FAFSA form)
  7. List of leadership positions held

Deadline: Traditionally early to mid March
